Off to a Good Start

This week we started on a major kitchen remodel project. Bright and early Monday morning the demolition team showed up and started their job.

Jody and I had done our part emptying out all the cabinets so the crew hit the ground running. Since we are changing everything in the kitchen, the plan calls for stripping the room down to the studs and the sub-flooring then rebuilding it from there.

Here’s what the kitchen looked like at about 8:05AM Monday morning.

By 3:30PM Monday afternoon the demo was complete. All the cabinets and the appliances were picked up by a recycling organization, The Rebuilding Center. The old flooring, sheet rock and old drop ceiling were hauled away by the demo crew. And this is all that was left of our old kitchen (not much).

Tuesday and Wednesday were very productive but less photogenic days with HVAC, plumbing and electrical rough-in followed by inspections on Thursday. Friday the insulation went back in and the sheet rock went back up on the walls. The new kitchen is starting to take shape.

And, as you can see from this last photo below, the project is not only off to a good start but right on schedule as well.

Cheers – DJD
