A Week Before…

Just a week before Christmas and all through our back yard there were lots of birds stirring and visiting our feeders. On a weekend that saw most of the malls packed with shoppers, we saw most of our usual visitors plus a couple of special guests.

The Townsend’s Warbler (who is just passing through on his way to a winter vacation in Mexico) was really hard to capture on camera because he never stopped moving. He would swoop into the feeder, grab some seeds, and then take off back to the safety of the nearby trees. I was also battling low light so it wasn’t easy getting a picture without motion blur.

We normally only see the Varied Thrush when it gets cold (like now) and then only one at a time. However this guy was one of four that visited our deck at the same time this weekend.

Cheers – DJD
